The additional ballast bags are integrated into the rear factory ballast tanks for an automated fill\/drain process using the existing pumps, hoses, and switches. Once the factory hard tanks are full, excess water flows into the WakeBallast ballast bag and begins to fill it. Once the additional ballast bag is full (which means the factory hard tank is full), excess water flows out of the bag's overflow line and through the factory thru-hull fittings, allowing the system to function exactly the same as the stock setup.
